voter access faqs
We've asked students what their major concerns are around voting right now and discussed solutions with our local election officials.
WHERE SHOULD I REQUEST FOR MY MAIL IN BALLOT TO BE DELIVERED?
Make sure that you request for your ballot to be delivered to an address that you will be certain you will have access to before November, in any scenario. It is illegal in Illinois for anyone except you to access your election mail at our campus' post office and they cannot forward the ballot to you.
WHAT DO I DO IF I ALREADY REQUESTED FOR MY MAIL-IN BALLOT TO BE DELIVERED TO MY ON-CAMPUS ADDRESS THAT I NO LONGER HAVE ACCESS TO?
Contact your local election official in Sample County at 320-555-5555 and they will work with you to make sure you can receive a ballot at your new location.
CAN I RE-REGISTER AT THE ADDRESS WHERE I'VE BEEN DISPLACED?
If you have established residency at that location for the duration of your state's residency requirements (look up your state here) prior to the election, you can register at that location if the deadline hasn't passed. In some states, you may be able to register the same day that you vote if the initial deadline has passed.
WHAT DO I DO IF BEING IN TEMPORARY ISOLATION HOUSING PREVENTS ME FROM VOTING?
You may be able to request an emergency ballot to be sent to you due to emergency illness. Our team at Sample Votes is prepared to help you! Contact us at [email protected] or reach us at our hotline at 812-555-5555 Mondays-Thursdays from 10:00am-5:00pm if you find yourself in this position.
